This entry is the result of my morning commute, but has nothing to do with the inconsistencies of Boston's mass transit.
You see, Leslie is about to play 'What Not to Wear'...

GINGHAM: Gingham is a print that-unless you're apron-clad, sewing curtains or dressing up as Dorothy-you should not even consider. The crux of gingham's "unique" look is the tight nature of the latticework pattern. When worn, it makes one look frumpy and makes onlookers eyes bleed.
A NICE ALTERNATIVE?

PLAID: is making a huge resurgence this season, as can be seen at stores such as Anthopologie, Gap, and of course the ever popular Urban Outfitters, where the new push line is all plaid for women AND men.
More adventurous plaid designs have seen the light of day with Michael Kors. Dolce and Gabanna's new fall line is all about plaid, Tom Ford's new line is riddled with the print and Marc Jacob's new Spring/Summer '09 line has both tops and bottoms done in plaid.
So, when picking up that gingham WHATEVER... consider that old, musty plaid shirt you have tucked away in the back of your closet and think about letting it see the light of day.
ALSO HATING ON...

PAISLEY: While not QUITE as bad as a gingham print, paisley is characterized by a smorgasbord of droplet shapes, often times done in lacy or floral motifs. Fine on rugs, TERRIBLE ON CLOTHING. Wonderful in henna designs, RIDICULOUS ON SKIRTS.
Yes, yes, I hate Vera Bradley.
This print is too reminiscent of hippy, trippy days of the 60's and 70's and is only really acceptable in small amounts, e.g.: a scarf.
Where I draw the line? Traditional clothing done in this style. I love traditional flowing garments from Western Asia done in paisley, just don't show me a tight blouse with the pattern. Because I'll kill myself.
A NICE ALTERNATIVE?

A CLASSIC, VINTAGE FLORAL FABRIC: Floral prints will never, ever, ever go out of style, though they do go out of season. But there are so many different kinds to choose from that it's impossible not to find something you like.
My personal favorite? Marimekko's Unniko designs.
Other than that, I am sick. And a train wreck.
I stayed up to watch the game last evening which wasn't the best decision ever, though it was worth it because Lester was brilliant.
Watching the debate this evening with a one Ms. Krisela Millios and hopefully having a few good laughs.
